I also use a Vox Valvetonix Modeling amplifier. A modeling amplifier features digital processing which is designed to emulate the sounds and characteristics of other amplifiers. The Vox Valvetronix is designed to emulate the great classic vintage and modern amps from a variety of manufacturers. Think Fender, Marshal, Mesa Boogie, Peavey etc. You simply select the appropriate setting and the amp closely, but not exactly emulates the respective amp. For example, Tweed 4 x 12 ( Fender )  UK Blues ( Marshall Blues Breaker or JTM 45 ).Get the idea. Theres also a host of other digital effects from reverb, echo, delay, tremolo, distortions, phasers etc. In a gigging situation the amp modeling is very convincing as the amp was carefully and thoughtfully designed. I can honestly say the amp gives out a very convincing valve sound. It even responds, sounds and feels like a good valve amp. This is because the amp has a Valve Reactor power amp stage which is 100% analogue. The signal passes through a real tube 12AX7  valve and is powered by an output transformer. Just like a real amp. I've fooled a good many sound engineers and members of the audience with this amp. They think it's a real vintage Vox. I've also upgraded the Vox speaker to a Celestion G12 Classic Lead 80. This is a superb speaker, specifically designed for lead guitar applications. It gives a very defined and balanced guitar sound even when being pushed. All the strings ring out and it does not sound fluffy or muddy. At the moment my brother uses the amp with The Harpbreakers and I take it to sessions and  open mike gigs. WHY, because it's lighter to carry than the Marshall and other guitarists use it enables me accommodate their particular sound requirements without much fuss.
